I was working with a freelance client on a project that required generating QR codes. I thought it would be a simple 'generate QR Codes online' google search so I suggested the same to my client.

However, my client quickly pointed out a frustrating reality: every single website either plastered their logo as a watermark on the generated QR codes or demanded payment for what seemed like basic functionality.

The thought of paying monthly subscription fees just to generate QR codes felt absurd. It was a simple problem that shouldn't require a financial commitment. So I built a simple offline tool using Python for the client

I had a VPS (Virtual Private Server) that I could use to host the script and make it accessible online. So I created this website :)

A similar frustration led me to create watermarker.sushant.cc — another free tool born out of the same idea of making simple tools accessible to everyone.
